Being a full figured woman with absolute confidence and heart, Taira is willing to not only try her hand at modeling but also contribute her fashion sense with others. Taira Mitchell, A Fresh Face Interview
Hi Taira, thank you for taking time out of your schedule to sit down with Size is Sexy and giving our readers a little more insight on what its like being new to the plus size modeling scene. I guess we would like to know since you are new to the industry, what do you think so far?
So far so good! It’s a new experience, a challenge and I’m loving it!
When did you realize you wanted to pursue modeling?
People always told me I could be a model, but I never really paid it any mind until one day I was presented with the opportunity to do so. I did it and I loved it!
What do you hope to gain from modeling?
I hope to be an inspiration to plus size women. I want to show them that SIZE IS SEXY, that you don’t have to be a size negative zero to be beautiful and confident. Hopefully this will be my stepping stone to my true passion, which is styling.
Who is your favorite designer?
Oscar de la renta is my favorite designer. His clothes are classic, very feminine.
How do you think Size is Sexy will impact the industry?
Size is sexy is going to be a powerful positive impact on this industry. This movement is a long time coming. Plus size women are now going to see you can be big, beautiful and sexy. S.I.S is a true representation of BBW’s…..IT’S TIME TO OWN IT. IT’S WHAT THE WORLD’S BEEN MISSING!
Is there any person that has influenced you?
My mother. She’s beautiful, confident in her own skin. Words can’t describe her.
As a fashion coordinator, do you think that gives you an advantage in this competitive industry?
Absolutely! Especially being my size and still able to remain fly and keep up with the latest trends. It’s a gift!
What can we expect from Taira in 2010?
Expect me to take it to the top and give you my all!
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I like to write poetry.
If you could vacation anywhere in the world, where would you go?
If I could vacation anywhere it would be Milan, preferably during fashion week.
As far as relationships go, has your voluptuous figure ever worked for you or against you in anyway?
A lot of full figure women say they have trouble meeting men because a lot of men are not into voluptuous women. Getting a man has never been an issue for me. Men love confidence. That’s the key.
What is in your CD player right now?
Donny Hathaway…”Giving up”……that’s my jam!
Favorite color?
Pink, but I never really wear it.
If you won the lottery for $5 million dollars what would you do?
The very first thing I would buy, definitely a 645 convertible for my mother.
What would you consider to be the most important part of your life?
Right now the most important part of my life is just waking up every morning striving to reach my goals and being happy.
